The United States yet to approve a plan to train Ukrainian pilots on F-16
The United States has not approved a plan to train Ukrainian pilots on F-16 aircraft.
CNN reported this, citing its own sources.
The training was supposed to start in August. However, the Biden administration has not yet received a final training plan from European countries, which the United States must approve before the training can begin.
The United States also has to approve the transfer of special F-16 equipment and materials, including flight simulators and training manuals.
"The United States is still deciding whether to send American pilots to help train Ukrainians, but no decisions will be made until the final training plan is authorized," the statement said.
A spokesperson for Denmark's Ministry of Defence told CNN that the training will take place over six months at several locations, including Skrydstrup Fighter Base in Denmark.
"The coalition has agreed to support the training with language experts, pilots, ground crew, instructors, aircraft, or funding as appropriate. Ukraine is expected to provide qualified personnel able to pass necessary language, health, and security tests," the statement also said.
It will be recalled that on July 16, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said that Biden had approved the training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets in European countries.
