The United States transfers cluster munitions to Ukraine

The US President's administration has approved the transfer of cluster munitions to Ukraine.

Jake Sullivan, National Security Advisor to the President of the United States, announced this during a press conference.

"We recognise that cluster munitions pose a risk of harm to civilians from unexploded ordnance. That's why we delayed the decision for as long as we could," said Sullivan.

Jake Sullivan is convinced that there is a high risk of harm to civilians if Russian troops and tanks move into Ukrainian positions, occupy more territory, and capture more Ukrainian civilians.

Ukraine has provided "written guarantees" arguing for the need for cluster munitions while also assuring that these munitions will be used on the battlefield.

"But the front line is constantly changing, so we cannot clearly define on the map where they will be used," Sullivan added.
