The United States announced more than USD 10 billion in financial assistance to Ukraine and imposed sanctions against Russia

The U.S. Department of State has announced more than USD 10 billion in financial assistance to Ukraine. In addition, the U.S. Treasury Department and G7 partners have imposed new economic sanctions against the Russian Federation  — the websites of the US Department of State and the US Department of the Treasury.

This financial assistance includes budget support for the Ukrainian government and additional energy assistance.

The Department of State is also working with Congress to provide Ukraine with additional energy assistance of USD 250 million to meet urgent needs, including critical equipment for the power grid. 

The new restrictions apply to the metallurgical and mining sectors of the Russian economy, the financial services sector, wealth management organizations, and entities that help Russia circumvent sanctions.

The US imposed restrictions on 22 individuals and 83 legal entities.
