The UN International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine will continue its work for another year

The mandate of the UN International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine to investigate all alleged violations and abuses of human rights, violations of international humanitarian law, and related crimes that may have been committed in the context of the aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine has been extended for another year after the UN Human Rights Council adopted a resolution on the human rights situation in Ukraine as a result of Russian aggression.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"An important element of the resolution is the reaffirmation of the need to ensure accountability for human rights violations, international humanitarian law and the most serious international crimes, so Ukraine, together with its partners, will continue to work on establishing a special tribunal to prosecute the Russian leadership for the crime of aggression," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The UN International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine was established following UN Human Rights Council resolution 49/1, the Situation of human rights in Ukraine as a result of Russian aggression.

Based on the results of its work, the Commission concluded that the evidence collected by its investigators showed that the occupying Russian authorities had committed numerous violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law in all regions of Ukraine that were or are under the temporary occupation of the Russian Federation.

However, its representatives found no signs of genocide in Ukraine.
