London, UK (Svidomi) — On February 22, the UK government imposed more than 50 new sanctions restrictions on businessmen and companies that support Russia's war against Ukraine.
The restrictions apply to:
- companies involved in the production of munitions, such as missile launchers, rockets, explosives and other critical goods used in military equipment. This includes Sverdlov, the largest enterprise in the Russian ammunition industry;
- key Russian machine tool importers and manufacturers, which play an essential role in the production of vital defence systems and components ranging from missiles and engines to tanks and fighter jets;
- oil trader Niels Troost and his company Paramount Energy & Commodities SA. Troost facilitates the unimpeded trade of Russian oil outside the UK and G7 sanctions zone, including through Paramount Energy & Commodities DMCC, a UAE-based company that the UK designated in November 2023;
- Fractal Marine DMCC, Beks Ship Management and Active Shipping, all of which operate in the Russian energy sector as part of Putin's shadowy "fleet" transporting Russian oil;
- 2 Russian diamond companies and Pavel Marinychev, the new CEO of Alrosa, Russia's largest state-owned diamond producer, which is estimated to have a 30% share of the global diamond market;
- 5 senior executives or owners of Russian copper, zinc and steel producers.
