The Prosecutor General's Office reports about 11,000 civilians killed in Ukraine
The Prosecutor General's Office has confirmed the deaths of 11,000 civilians during Russia's war against Ukraine.
The head of the Department for Combating Crimes Committed During the Armed Conflict, Yurii Bielousov, said this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
About 500 children are among the dead. Law enforcement officials have also officially registered information about 15,599 wounded, including more than 1,000 children.
These figures are not complete. The real number may be "ten times higher".
"We understand that these figures are just the tip of the iceberg. When we de-occupy our territories, the numbers will increase many times, and possibly tenfold. I think there will be tens of thousands of dead in Mariupol alone," Bielousov commented.
