The President of the European Commission held the first phone call with the President of Ukraine in 2023

Ursula von der Leyen assured Volodymyr Zelenskyy of support for Ukraine and noted that the EU would help with the supply of generators, light bulbs, shelters, and school buses. Also, the European Union will soon start paying an €18 billion support package in monthly tranches.

Following the conversation, the Office of the President of Ukraine announced that the next Ukraine-EU summit would be held on February 3 in Kyiv.
