The Pentagon expanded the supply of weapons by sea to Ukraine

This expansion occurred as the US began transferring artillery howitzers and other heavy weapons to Ukraine, which require a steady supply of large-caliber ammunition.

Previously, weapons were delivered mainly by airplanes. Although they can deliver weapons faster, the ships can carry huge amounts of cargo, which could allow Ukraine to build up a larger arsenal for future campaigns in the war.
