The European Parliament proposes to ban the issuance of visas to Russian and Belarusian military personnel and officials

Lithuanian Member of the European Parliament Petras Auštrevičius reports about it.

Deputies of the European Parliament appealed to the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign and Security

Affairs Josep Borrell and the Foreign Affairs Minister of the Czech Republic Jan Lipavský with a proposal to prohibit the issuance of visas to Russian and Belarusian military personnel, their family members, as well as officials of the central administrations and their relatives.

They believe that in this way it will be possible to "send a clear signal that certain social groups that are directly or indirectly connected to the military efforts of the Russian Federation do not have the right to enter the territory of the EU and enjoy European freedoms and prosperity."

The appeal has currently been signed by 48 EP members from 13 EU states.
