The European Commission reaches an agreement with Bulgaria, Slovakia, Poland, Romania, and Hungary on imports of agricultural products from Ukraine

The European Commission has decided to ban imports of five products from Ukraine. In return, the countries will lift unilateral import restrictions and receive €100 million support packages from the European Commission for their farmers.

Executive Vice President of the European Commission for An Economy that Works for People, Valdis Dombrovskis, announced this.

Exceptional safeguard measures will be introduced for wheat, corn, rapeseed, and sunflower seeds.

Some other products, including sunflower oil, will be subject to safeguard investigations into the impact of imports of these products on the market.

It will be recalled that Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, and Bulgaria have suspended imports of agricultural products from Ukraine. The countries reported problems with market regulation, as well as the fact that products from Ukraine are not manufactured to European standards.
