Brazil's president has commented on his statement that Putin will not be arrested if he comes to the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro in 2024. The decision on whether to arrest Putin if he comes to Brazil for the G20 summit will be made by the country's judiciary.

Reuters reports.

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva believes that the country should reconsider joining the International Criminal Court, as countries such as the United States, China and India have not done so.

"I want to know why the U.S, India and China didn't sign the ICC treaty and why our country signed it," Lula said.

It will be recalled that during the G20 summit, the Brazilian president said in an interview with First Post that his country would not arrest Putin if he came to the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro.

Putin skipped the summit in India in 2023, although India has not ratified the Rome Statute.

The ICC issued arrest warrants for Vladimir Putin and Maria Lvova-Belova on March 17, 2023.
