Search and rescue operations ongoing in the capital

Russia fired 64 aerial targets at Ukrainian cities. Ukrainian air defence destroyed 44 of them. The downed targets included 26 X-101/X-555/X-55 cruise missiles, three Kalibr cruise missiles and 15 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs.

According to the latest data from the KCMA, four people were killed in Kyiv as a result of a Russian missile strike. At least 40 people were injured. More than 100 people were evacuated from the building where the missile hit.

The Russians may have used an experimental hypersonic missile, 3M22 Zircon, to strike the capital. The Monitor Telegram channel drew attention to the relevant markings on the missile wreckage. The wreckage of this missile was found in the Dniprovskyi district.

At the same time, the Air Force Command's report did not mention this missile among the destroyed missiles.

In Kharkiv, rocket attacks were recorded in the Slobidskyi district. The missiles hit three enterprises producing concrete and roofing. Non-residential infrastructure was damaged. Three people, employees of one of the companies, were lightly injured.

The Russians attacked the city with five missiles. Two of them are likely to be North Korean-made.

"The preliminary conclusions of experts say that these are North Korean HVASON 11GA (KN-23) missiles," said Serhii Bolvinov, head of the Kharkiv Police Investigation Department.

"We are constantly replenishing our equipment and improving coordination. This is the only way to protect Kharkiv from the enemy's kamikaze drones. As for missiles, the situation is really difficult," the head of the air defence department commented on the work to strengthen air defence in the city.

Ukrainian defenders shot down one Russian missile in the Dnipropetrovsk region. However, there was a hit on an infrastructure facility in Pavlohrad. A 30-year-old woman got injured as a result of the strike. The blast wave smashed windows in residential buildings.

In Mykolaiv, the number of victims increased to six. More than 200 consumers in the city were left without electricity. The Southern Defence Forces noted that the attack was carried out by an X-22 missile.

In the Lviv region, in one of the villages of the Stryi district, fragments of an unexploded rocket were found. They fell in a field 400 metres from residential buildings.

"Another massive attack against our country. Six regions were under enemy attack. All our services are now working to overcome the consequences of this terror," President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the morning's Russian attack.

US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink called on the world to "waste no time" and help Ukraine "now".

"Now, in Kyiv and around the country, men, women, and children awoke to another massive Russian missile and drone attack. We rely on Ukraine’s air defence - and its heroic air defenders - to protect us all. There is no time to lose. Ukraine needs our security assistance now," Brink wrote in her X.

The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, is on a working visit to Kyiv. He also spent this morning in a shelter.

"This is the daily reality of the brave Ukrainian people since Russia launched its illegal aggression," Borrell said.
