"The consequences of the Kakhovka HPP explosion will be clear after the water starts to recede" — Zelenskyy

The President of Ukraine emphasised that the explosion of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant dam had caused serious natural, social, and humanitarian challenges.

According to him, the explosion will result in problems with the drinking water supply. In particular, in the regions that are not flooded: in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions.

"The consequences of the tragedy will be clear in about a week. In simple terms, when the water goes away. It will be clear what is left there, what will happen next," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

35-80 settlements are expected to be flooded. The issue of supplying local residents with drinking water is currently being addressed, which will be needed not only in the flooded areas but also in neighbouring regions.
