SSU: Russia attacked Kostiantynivka with S-300 system on September 6
The Security Service of Ukraine is investigating the attack on the market in Kostiantynivka on September 6. According to preliminary data, the attack was carried out with the S-300 system.
This was reported by Suspilne with reference to the Security Service of Ukraine's press service.
The fact that the attack was from the S-300 is evidenced, in particular, by the identified missile fragments from the impact site.
A number of other materials are also being examined, which, according to the SSU, point to Russian involvement in the attack.
The investigation is being carried out under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, i.e. violation of the laws and customs of war.
On September 19, The New York Times published an investigation claiming that the attack on the market in Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region, on September 6 was an accident and was caused by a malfunction of a Ukrainian missile fired from a Buk air defence system.
The journalists claim that the missile was launched from the outskirts of Druzhkivka, near Kostiantynivka. They inspected fields on the outskirts of the city and found traces of what appeared to be air defence systems.
The investigation also notes that local residents and journalists from The New York Times in Druzhkivka heard the sound of missiles being launched a few minutes before the strike on Kostiantynivka.
