Since September 11, 2022, the Ukrainian military has destroyed over 650 Russian cruise missiles and over 610 Iranian attack drones

Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said in an interview with ArmyInform.

"We have received NASAMS, IRIS-T, Crotale anti-aircraft missile systems, Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, and other systems that work effectively for our victory. We are currently waiting to receive Patriot and SAMP/T-MAMBA anti-aircraft missile systems. They will significantly strengthen the air defense system of our country," says the Air Force Commander.

Oleshchuk noted that it is possible to eliminate aerial targets thanks to the help of Western partners, but it is not enough to "restore order in the sky and free it from the presence of air terrorists."

He noted that the allies know exactly what Ukraine needs, in particular the Air Force — modern multi-purpose aircraft and medium- and long-range anti-aircraft missile systems.

Mykola Oleshchuk marked the activity of the anti-aircraft missile forces of Ukraine, which can shoot down up to 80% of launched missiles, although before the full-scale war, they did not have such a task and were trained to shoot down only airplanes and helicopters.
