Satellite images of the Russian Engels airfield show that Russians covered aircraft with car tyres

MAXAR has published satellite imagery of the Engels airbase in Russia, which shows car tyres that Russians have placed on aircraft.

CNN reported this.

The tyres were placed on the tops of two Tu-95 strategic bombers.

In this way, Russians may try to defend themselves against attacks by Ukrainian drones.

"It may reduce the thermal signature for exposed strategic aviation assets placed on airfield aprons, but they will still be observable under infrared cameras," said Francisco Serra-Martins of drone manufacturer One Way Aerospace.

It will be recalled that Ukrainian intelligence attacked Russian air bases Dyagilevo and Engels in December 2022.
