Russians strike the centre of Chernihiv

This was reported by the secretary of the Chernihiv City Council, Oleksandr Lomako. 

It is likely that the Russian army struck the city with a ballistic missile.

There are wounded and dead. The consequences of the destruction and the number of victims are being clarified.

"The square, the polytechnic, the theatre. An ordinary Saturday afternoon that Russia turned into a day of pain and loss," President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the attack.

Rescuers, police and medics continue to work at the scene.
