Russians caused an environmental disaster at the ZNPP site — Energoatom
"Due to the shutdown of the plant's power units, warm water does not enter the ZNPP cooling pond, resulting in the water temperature dropping to about +13 degrees. As a result, it led to the mass death of fish in the pond," the statement says.
It is noted that fish in the pond perform a sanitary function, destroying green algae and ensuring the purity of the cooling tubes of the turbine condenser.
