Russian strike kills family in Donetsk region

In the Donetsk region, located on the frontline in the east of Ukraine and partially occupied since 2014, the Russian army attacked Hirnyk, Kostiantynivka, Myrnohrad, Selydove, Ukrainsk, Vovchenka, Karpivka, Lysivka, Ridkodub, and Shakhtarske. 

Seventeen residential buildings, educational institutions, a hotel, a cafe, a petrol station, a trade pavilion, cars, and communications were damaged. Three civilians sustained injuries. The Prosecutor General's Office reports that a family of four residents died. A total of 2,575 attacks by the Russian army were recorded over the day. 

In the Zaporizhzhia region, partially occupied in the south since 2022, the Russians fired on Zaporizhzhia, Vidradne, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Huliaipole, Levadne, Orikhove and Malynivka. The Russian army used UAVs, MLRS, and artillery in the attacks. As a result, Four civilians were injured and three were killed. 87 residential and infrastructure facilities were damaged. A total of 205 attacks were recorded over the day.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, south-central Ukraine, Russia targeted the Nikopol, Marhanets, Myrove, Pokrovsk, and Chervonohryhorivka communities. The Russian army used heavy artillery, Grad multiple rocket launchers, kamikaze drones and UAVs. Infrastructure, an administrative building, a museum, power lines, a gas pipeline, two houses, a non-residential building, and a sports club were damaged. One civilian died. The shelling destroyed an outbuilding and started a fire.

Rescuers have completed search operations under the rubble of a hotel in Kryvyi Rih, a city in central Ukraine. Overall, four civilians were killed in the Russian attack on the evening of August 26.

In the Kirovohrad region, central Ukraine, the debris of a downed drone fell on the territory of a private household in the Oleksandriia district.

In the Luhansk region, almost completely occupied by Russia, Russia shelled Stelmakhivtka, Nevske and Makiivka. The Russians used mortars, artillery and more than 100 UAVs per day.

In the Mykolaiv region, south of Ukraine, the Russians shelled Ochakiv, as well as the Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities. The Russian army employed artillery to carry out the attacks. The regional military administration reported no casualties.

In the Sumy region, bordering Russia to the north, the Russian army shelled the Velyka Pysarivka, Bilopillia, Berezivka, Sumy, Esman, Hlukhiv, Seredyna-Buda, Krasnopillia, Shalyhyne, Yampil, Mykolaivka, and Nova Sloboda communities. The shelling damaged eight private households, four cars, three enterprises, a municipal institution, two shops, a lock-up, a warehouse of a scientific institution and a low-pressure gas pipeline. One сivilian was injured. A total of 311 attacks on 44 localities were recorded over the day.

In the Kharkiv region, bordering Russia in the east of Ukraine, the Russian army shelled Piatyhirske, Izium, Kozacha Lopan, Nova Kozacha, Tsyrkuny, Tyshky, and Bohodukhiv. 23 civilians were injured, and one died. As a result of the shelling, vehicles, the roof of a house, seven partially abandoned houses, 13 outbuildings, and two cars caught fire. The fence, the windows of the administrative building, and a private household sustained damage. One hectare and 200 square metres of grass caught fire. 

In the Kherson region, south of Ukraine, partially occupied since 2022, Kherson, Novooleksandrivka, Tomyna Balka, Novodmitrivka, Beryslav, Mylove, Dudchany, Poniativka, Havrylivka, Zmiivka, Mykilske, Sadove, Kizomys, Antonivka, Prydniprovske, Tiahynka, Olhivka, Topolyne came under Russian fire and air strikes. 14 civilians were injured and two were killed. The shelling damaged a petrol station, eight private houses, an outbuilding, as well as private and official vehicles. 

In the Chernihiv region, bordering Belarus and Russia to the north, Russia fired at Kovpynka, Pushkari, Hremiach, Mykhalchyna Sloboda, Orlykivka, Kostobobriv, Karpovychi, Leonivka, Arkhypivka, Khrinivka and Senkivka. The Russian army fired mortars and cannon artillery, launched drone attacks, and dropped explosives from drones.
