Russian shelling leaves three dead and eight wounded in Donetsk region on August 2

The Russian army attacked Ukraine with two S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles, two X-31P missiles and 29 Shahed combat drones. The Air Defence Forces reported the downing of 24 Shahed-131/136 combat drones in the Kherson, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Vinnytsia and Zhytomyr regions.
In the Kharkiv region, bordering Russia in the east of Ukraine, the Russians shelled Kharkiv, Ivashky, Kreidianka, Podoly, Vyshnivka, Kamianka, Kupiansk, Velyka Babka, Zolochiv and the Derhachiv community. One civilian was killed and 12 injured. The shelling damaged private and multi-storey buildings, outbuildings, cars and a kindergarten.
In the Donetsk region, located on the frontline in the east of Ukraine and partially occupied since 2014, the Russian army shelled Kostiantynivka, Myrnohrad, Novohrodivka, Toretsk, Ukrainsk, Kurakhivka, Novoekonomichne, Raihorodok, Berestky, Zoria, Zoriane, Katerynivka, Mykolaivka, Myroliubivka and Romanivka. Three civilians were killed and eight injured, including two children. Damage included 62 residential buildings, businesses, educational institutions, shops, cafes, non-residential premises, a bus and 11 cars, as well as critical infrastructure.
In the Sumy region, bordering Russia to the north, the Russians carried out 27 attacks on the communities of Khotin, Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Vorozhbianka, Myropillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Novosloboda, Shalyhyne, Esman and Seredyna-Buda. Two civilians were injured in the attack.
In the Chernihiv region, bordering Belarus and Russia to the north, Russians opened fire on the communities of Snovsk, Semenivka and Novhorod-Siverskyi. Border guards recorded 47 explosions. No casualties were reported.
In the Mykolaiv region, south of Ukraine, the Russians attacked the Kutsurub and Bereznehuvata communities. No casualties were reported. Two utility buildings were damaged.
In the Kherson region, south of Ukraine, partially occupied since 2022, the Russian army shelled Kherson, Antonivka, Sadove, Prydniprovske, Kizomys, Bilozerka, Stanislav, Novodmyitrivka, Mykilske, Poniativka, Beryslav, Havrylivka, Zolota Balka, Tyahynka and Lvove. A critical infrastructure facility, an administrative building, shops, nine private houses, outbuildings and cars received damage. The shelling killed one civilian and wounded two others.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, south-central Ukraine, the Russians targeted the Nikopol, Marhanets, Pokrovsk, Myrove and Chervonohryhorivka communities. An official building, a power line, a private house and a gas pipeline sustained damage. No casualties were reported.
In the Luhansk region, almost completely occupied by Russia, the Russians shelled Nevske and Makiivka. No casualties were reported.
In the Zaporizhzhia region, partially occupied in the south since 2022, the Russians launched 460 attacks on settlements: Pavlivka, Novoandriivka, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Levadne, Robotyne, Novodanylivka, Mali Shcherbaky, Malynivka, Orikhove and Preobrazhenka. There were nine reports of destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure. Two civilians were injured as a result of the strike.
