Russian shelling kills two and injures 11 on September 16
On the night of September 17, Russia attacked Ukraine with 51 combat drones of various types. The Air Force reported the destruction of 34 combat drones in the Mykolaiv, Kherson, Sumy, Poltava, and Kharkiv regions. Twelve drones lost radar contact.
In the Kharkiv region, bordering Russia in the east of Ukraine, the Russians shelled Senkove, Bohuslavka, Kupiansk, Hubarivka, Podoly, Pavlivka, Bohodukhiv, Verkhnii Saltiv, Losivka, Nova Kozacha, and Hrushivka. Private houses, an apartment building, and a warehouse were damaged. The shelling set fire to about 30 hectares of forests and grass. Three civilians got injured.
In the Donetsk region, partially occupied since 2014 and located on the frontline, the Russian army launched 2,497 attacks on Kostiantynivka, Kurakhove, Lyman, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Siversk, and Bohoiavlenka. The shellings damaged 51 residential buildings, enterprises, administrative buildings, educational institutions, and critical infrastructure. Three civilians got injured in the shelling of Pokrovsk.
In the Luhansk region, almost completely occupied by Russia, the Russians shelled Nevske, Makiivka, and Novoiehorivka with cannon artillery and combat drones. The regional military administration reports no casualties.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region in south-central Ukraine, the Russians shelled Nikopol and the community of Marhanets. The regional military administration reports no casualties.
In the Zaporizhzhia region, partially occupied in the south since 2022, the Russians launched 177 attacks on Kamianske, Piatykhatky, Robotyne, Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mahdalynivka, Yasynuvata, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka, Poltavka, and Omelnyk. Twelve private houses were destroyed. The regional military administration reports no casualties.
In the Mykolaiv region in the south of Ukraine, the Russians shelled the community of Ochakiv. The regional military administration reports no casualties.
In the Kherson region in the south of Ukraine, partially occupied since 2022, the Russians shelled Antonivka, Beryslav, Zmiivka, Oleksandrivka, Novooleksandrivka, Ukrainka, Shevchenkivka, Sadove, Prydniprovske, and Kherson. Six private houses, a warehouse, and private cars were damaged. Five civilians were injured, and two others were killed, including one child.
In the Chernihiv region, bordering Belarus and Russia to the north, the Russians shelled the community of Novhorod-Siverskyi, Snovsk, and Semenivka with mortars and combat drones. The regional military administration reports no casualties.
In the Sumy region, bordering Russia to the north, the Russians shelled 32 settlements in the region. The shellings damaged 14 private houses, 2 outbuildings, a school, and three cars. In the Sumy, Okhtyrka, and Konotop districts, the Russians shelled energy infrastructure, causing disruption in electricity and water supply.
