Russian shelling kills five civilians over the day. Another 41 sustain injuries

On the night of August 29, Russia attacked Ukraine with three X-59/69 guided missiles, two missiles of unknown type, and 74 Shahed-131/136 combat UAVs. Air defences operated in the Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Poltava, Dnipro, Kherson, Sumy and Donetsk regions.
The Air Force Command reported the downing of two X-59/69 guided missiles and 60 attack UAVs. Another 14 drones went down in the territory of Ukraine.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, south-central Ukraine, the Russians attacked Kryvyi Rih, the Nikopol, Pokrovsk, Myrove, and Marhanets communities. Nine civilians were wounded in the shelling. A lock-up co-operative, car service station, administrative buildings, dormitory, petrol station, vocational school, lyceum, post office, cathedral, kiosk, nine private houses, a house, outbuildings, three high-rise buildings, lock-up, cars, shops, cafes, dental office, gas pipelines and power lines were damaged.
The morning shelling of Nikopol left one civilian dead and five others wounded. A shopping centre, multi-storey buildings, outbuildings, a car and a gas pipeline were also damaged.
The Russians launched 252 attacks on the settlements of the Zaporizhzhia region, partially occupied in the south since 2022: Stepove, Robotyne, Olhivka, Malynivka, Novoandriivka, Prymorske, Huliaipole, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Stepnohirsk, Mali Shcherbaky, Zelenyi Hai and Pryluky. The regional military administration received 18 reports of the destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure. No casualties were reported.
Overnight, the Air Defence Forces shot down eight drones in the Cherkasy region, centre of Ukraine. The Russian attack caused a fire on the territory of a private enterprise. No casualties were reported.
In the Mykolaiv region, south of Ukraine, the Russians targeted the Kutsurub and Ochakiv communities. The shelling damaged two residential buildings. No casualties were reported.
In the Sumy region, bordering Russia to the north, the Russians fired 85 times at the Mykolaiv, Khotin, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Nova Sloboda, Berezivka, Esman, Druzhba, Svesa, Seredyna-Buda, Hlukhiv, Shalyhyne, Yunakivka and Znob-Novhorod communities. Four people sustained injuries as a result of the shelling.
In the Kharkiv region, bordering Russia in the east of Ukraine, the Russians shelled Odnorobivka, Novoosynove, Sobolivka, Balakliia, Doroshivka, Kupiansk, Horiane, Prybysh and Novovodolazka communities. Seventeen civilians received minor and moderate injuries. The building of the Kupiansk military administration, private and multi-storey buildings, outbuildings, power grids, a hotel, a prosecutor's office and court premises, a warehouse and other civilian infrastructure suffered damage. The shelling caused at least eight fires in the open area.
In the Donetsk region, located on the frontline in the east of Ukraine and partially occupied since 2014, the Russian army shelled Kurakhove, Kostiantynivka, Myrnohrad, Toretsk, Chasiv Yar, Shcherbynivka, Hnativka, Izmailivka, Illinivka, Lisivka, Nikonorivka and Stara Mykolaiivka. 36 residential buildings, a shop, non-residential buildings and cars were damaged. The shelling killed five civilians, including a child, and wounded six others.
In the Chernihiv region, bordering Belarus and Russia to the north, the Russians shelled the Semenivka and Snovske communities. Border guards recorded 30 explosions. No casualties were reported.
In the Kherson region, south of Ukraine, partially occupied since 2022, the Russian army shelled Kherson, Antonivka, Bilozerka, Blahovishchenske, Havrylivka, Dudchany, Dniprovske, Prydniprovske, Novodmitrivka, Stanislav, Sadove, Shyroka Balka, Shliakhove, Kizomys, Shestakove and Osokorivka. Five civilians suffered injuries as a result of the shelling. A petrol station, residential blocks, a multi-storey building, ten private houses, a gas pipeline and private cars were damaged.
In the Luhansk region, almost completely occupied by Russia, the Russians opened fire over a hundred times on Nevske, Makiivka, Stelmakhivka, Bilohorivka and Novoiehorivka. The regional military administration reports no casualties.
