Russian shelling in Kherson region leaves 6 people wounded, including a child
On the night of August 14, Russia launched two X-59/69 guided missiles and 23 Shahed combat drones into Ukraine. Ukraine's air defence forces downed 17 UAVs in the regions of Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kharkiv and Zhytomyr.
In the Kherson region, south of Ukraine, partially occupied since 2022, the Russian forces shelled Kherson, Stanislav, Chereshenky, Sadove, Mykhailivka, Antonivka, Chervonyi Maiak, Taras Shevchenko, Tomaryne, Beryslav, Veletenske, Muzykivka, Dniprovske, Zymivnyk, Bilozerka, Zolota Balka and Tiahynka. The shelling resulted in the injury of 6 civilians, including a child. The Russian military hit a critical infrastructure facility, an educational and medical institution, high-rise buildings, private houses, a gas pipeline and utility buildings.
In the Donetsk region, located on the frontline in the east of Ukraine and partially occupied since 2014, the Russian forces shelled the towns of Kurakhove, Myrnohrad, Novohrodivka and the villages of Shcherbynivka, Dibrova, Zhuravka, Lysivka and Myroliubivka. One civilian was killed in the village of Zhuravka and 2 others were wounded in the village of Shcherbynivka. The shelling caused damage to private homes, lock-ups and vehicles.
In the Kharkiv region, bordering Russia in the east of Ukraine, the Russian army targeted Kupiansk with drones, damaging a private house and a warehouse. A Russian tank fire also damaged a pharmacy in Kozacha Lopan.
In the Sumy region, bordering Russia to the north, the Russians launched attacks with UAVs, artillery, drones and missiles on the communities of Sumy, Khotin, Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Vorozhbianka, Esman, Shalyhyne, Seredyna-Buda and Znob-Novhorod. In the Khotin locality, two civilians were injured as a result of air strikes with guided bombs.
In the Chernihiv region, bordering Belarus and Russia to the north, the Russians shelled 4 border villages with artillery and UAVs in the Novhorod-Siverskyi and Semenivka communities. A Shahed UAV also damaged an infrastructure facility in the Nizhyn district, causing no injuries.
In the Mykolaiv region, south of Ukraine, Russian Shahed drones damaged two private houses in the Bashtanka district.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, south-central Ukraine, the Russians targeted the communities of Nikopol, Marhanets, Chervonohryhorivka, Pokrovsk and Myrove. One man died in hospital as a result of the attacks. Transportation and private companies were damaged.
In the Luhansk region, almost completely occupied by Russia, the Russian army continued to shell Nevske, Serhiivka and Makiivka with artillery, anti-aircraft missiles, drones and multiple launch rocket systems.
In the Zaporizhzhia region, partially occupied in the south since 2022, the Russians attacked Bilohiria, Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Prymorske, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka and Levadne with aircraft, UAVs, MLRS and artillery. In total, the Russians struck 8 settlements 510 times, damaging infrastructure and residential buildings.
