Russian President Putin to miss G20 summit in India

Vladimir Putin will skip the G20 summit in India on September 9-10.
This was stated in the office of the Indian Prime Minister, The Guardian reports.
Instead, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will attend the event.
Narendra Modi spoke to Putin on the phone and "expressed understanding" over his absence from the summit.
Modi and Putin also discussed "issues of mutual concern", including the recent BRICS summit in South Africa.
