Russian OMON raids the Suvuk-Dere mosque in temporarily occupied Simferopol

A journalist of Crimean Solidarity said that Russians arrived during Friday prayers and checked the passports of all the parishioners. Those who came to prayer without documents called home to have their relatives bring them.

The raid was carried out by officers of the so-called "centre for countering extremism."

"Two prison vans arrived. According to eyewitnesses, passports were photographed and compared with some kind of database. People were not let go for more than an hour," the correspondent explained.

The Suvuk-Dere mosque has been built for more than 16 years with donations from Crimean Muslims.
