Russian missile strike on Kryvyi Rih hotel kills two civilians

On the night of August 27, the Russian army launched 81 Shahed combat drones and ten missiles at Ukraine. The Air Defence Forces reported shooting down five X-101 cruise missiles and 60 Shahed combat drones. Another ten combat drones were lost in the area (probably crashed).

In the Kharkiv region, bordering Russia in the east of Ukraine, the Russians shelled Kharkiv, Bohodukhiv, Bohuslavka, Kupiansk, Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, Andriivka, Nechvolodivka, Oleksandrivka, Ustynivka, Kozacha Lopan, Postolne, Hlazunivka, Svitlychne, Oleksiivka, Kopanka, and Pershotravneve. Four civilians suffered injuries and one died.

In the Donetsk region, located on the frontline in the east of Ukraine and partially occupied since 2014, Russians shelled Kostiantynivka, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Novoekonomichne, Yampil, Malynivka, Myroliubivka, Shchurove. One civilian was wounded in Kostiantynivka. Three residential buildings, recreation centres, a church, a laundromat, cars and gas pipelines suffered damage. 

In the Luhansk region, almost completely occupied by Russia, the Russians targeted Nevske and Makiivka with multiple rocket launchers and cannon artillery. The regional military administration reports no casualties. 

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, in south-central Ukraine, the Russian army launched a rocket attack on a hotel in Kryvyi Rih. Two civilians died and five suffered injuries.

Search operations are still ongoing. Six shops, four high-rise buildings, and eight cars were also damaged. The Russians shelled Nikopol, Myrove, Chervonohryhorivka, Marhanets and Pokrovsk communities. Eight civilians suffered injuries and one was killed.

In the Zaporizhzhia region, partially occupied in the south since 2022, the  Russians struck at Zaporizhzhia, Novohupalivka, Mykolai-Pole, Stepnohirsk, Orikhove, Bilenke, Chervonodniprovka, Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Verkhnia Tersa, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka and Levadne.  In Zaporizhzhia, two civilians died and four were injured. 38 houses were destroyed. 

In the Mykolaiv region, south of Ukraine, the Russians shelled the Kutsurub and Ochakiv communities. Two residential buildings, outbuildings and a car were damaged. The regional military administration reports no casualties. 

In the Kherson region, south of Ukraine, partially occupied since 2022, the Russians shelled Antonivka, Dniprovske, Tokarivka, Sadove, Bilozerka, Tomyna Balka, Kizomys, Shyroka Balka, Inzhenerne, Prydniprovske, Stanislav, Mykhailivka, Zolota Balka, Havrylivka, Dudchany, Osokorivka, Tiahynka, Potomkine, Novoraisk, Topolyne and Kherson.  One civilian was killed and ten others were injured. Five multi-storey buildings and 13 private houses, a gas pipeline, utility buildings, private and company cars suffered damage. 

In the Chernihiv region, bordering Belarus and Russia to the north, the Russians shelled Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, and Snovsk communities. The regional military administration reports no casualties. 

In the Sumy region, bordering Russia to the north, the Russians launched 267 attacks on 49 settlements. Twenty people sustained injuries. Fourteen private households, four multi-storey buildings, six cars, ten lock-ups, a kindergarten building, premises of two enterprises, two infrastructure facilities, a medium-pressure gas pipeline, and an administrative building received damage. 

In the Kyiv region, bordering Russia to the north, the Russians targeted the capital, Kyiv, and the region. The fall of rocket debris set grass and forest floor on fire. The regional military administration reports no casualties. 

In the Khmelnytskyi region, west of Ukraine, missile and drone debris damaged private homes. One civilian suffered injuries.

During the night of Monday, August 26, 2024, the Russian army fired three Kinzhal missiles, six Iskander-M/KN-23 missiles, 77 X-101 cruise missiles, 28 Kalibr missiles, three X-22 missiles, ten X-59/X-69 missiles, and 109 Shahed combat drones at Ukraine. The Air Defence Forces reported shooting down 102 missiles and 99 Shahed combat drones. In the Poltava region, central part of Ukraine, a woman in Lubny was injured by drone debris. Three civilians died in hospital after an enterprise was shelled. In Zaporizhzhia, a man died of burns caused by shelling. Two civilians were injured in the Vinnytsia region. An infrastructure facility was damaged in Rivne. The regional military administration reports no casualties.
