Russian Defence Ministry reports drone attack in Saratov region

The Russian Ministry of Defence has announced the alleged downing of a drone in the Engelsky district of the Saratov region.

The ministry's press service said in a statement.

Russia accused Ukraine of the attack.

Russian Telegram channel ASTRA reports that two drones fell on the territory of the Engels 2 military airfield. Russian strategic bombers are likely based there. 

Since February 2022, the base has been used to carry out massive attacks in Ukraine.

It will be recalled that, in December 2022, Ukraine attacked the Russian military airfields Dyagilevo in the Ryazan region and Engels in the Saratov region.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, two Tu-95MS aircraft were damaged at Engels. The Russians also reported the deaths of three Russian servicemen during one of the attacks on the airfield.
