Russian attacks in Kharkiv region injured 47 civilians, including four children. One civilian was killed

On the night of September 16, the Russian army attacked Ukraine with 56 combat drones. The Air Force reported shooting down 53 drones in the Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Poltava, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Cherkasy regions.

In the Kharkiv region, bordering Russia in the east of Ukraine, Russia shelled Kharkiv, Pisky-Radkivski, Stohnii, Kupiansk, Shyikivka, Ruska Lozova, Verkhnii Saltiv, Verbivka, Tsyrkuny, Kindrashivka, Senkove, and Kurylivka. The shellings damaged 22 apartment buildings and 21 cars. A shop, a hangar, a metal container, and an outbuilding were destroyed. A warehouse, a farm, six outbuildings, two houses, an inoperable shop, an inoperable petrol station, and large grass areas were on fire. Forty-seven civilians were wounded, including four children. One civilian was killed.

In the Kyiv region, the Russians attacked settlements with combat drones. Five cars and five private houses were damaged by falling debris from the downed drones. Grass and forest litter caught fire in four districts. One civilian was injured.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region in south-central Ukraine, the Russian army shelled Nikopol, Marhanets, and the community of Marhanets. Six private houses, four outbuildings, a power line, and a gas pipeline were damaged. Two buildings caught fire as a result of the attacks. Two civilians got injured.

In the Zaporizhzhia region, partially occupied in the south since 2022, Russian troops attacked Kamianske, Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Robotyne, Chervone, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka, Poltavka, Chervone, Zaliznychne, and Preobrazhenka. Six residential buildings and infrastructure facilities were partially destroyed. Over the day, 145 strikes were recorded. The regional military administration reports no casualties. 

In the Donetsk region, partially occupied since 2014 and located on the frontline, the Russian army shelled Lyman, Mykolaivka, Pokrovsk, Siversk, Toretsk, Chasiv Yar, Kleban-Byk, Rozdolne, and Shevchenko. Forty-three residential buildings, a shopping centre, an educational institution, garages, outbuildings, cars, and critical infrastructure were damaged. Seven civilians were injured, including a child. One civilian was killed. Over the last day, 2,295 attacks were recorded in the region.

In the Luhansk region, almost completely occupied by Russia, the Russians shelled Nevske and Makiivka. They used 116 drones, rockets, and cannon artillery.

In the Mykolaiv region in the south of Ukraine, Russians shelled Dmytrivka and the waters of the Ochakiv community. A car and a minibus were damaged. Two civilians got injured.

In the Sumy region, bordering Russia to the north, Russia attacked the communities of Myropillia, Yunakivka, Velyka Pysarivka, Krasnopillia, Esman, Bilopillia, Druzhba, Lebedyn, Nova Sloboda, Seredyna-Buda, Shalyhyne, Khotin, Hlukhiv, and Putyvl. No damage or casualties reported yet.

In the Kherson region, partially occupied since 2022, the Russian army shelled Kherson, Sadove, Zelenivka, Komyshany, Kizomys, Beryslav, Novooleksandrivka, Mykhailivka, Ukrainka, and Dudchany. A critical infrastructure facility, two multi-storey buildings, six private houses, an outbuilding, agricultural machinery, and private cars were damaged. Six civilians were injured. 

In the Chernihiv region, bordering Belarus and Russia to the north, the Russians attacked Hremiach, Yeline, Prohres, and Halahanivka. They fired from mortars and cannon artillery, attacked with drones and dropped explosives from drones.
