Russian attack on children's cafe kills 14-year-old teenager, injures nine others

On August 20, the Russian army shelled a children's cafe in Malokaterynivka, Zaporizhzhia region. The attack killed a 14-year-old boy and wounded nine other people, including six children.

A few hours later, the Russian army shelled Malokaterynivka again. The second attack killed one person and injured another.

In addition, during the day, the Russians carried out 303 attacks on settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region, partially occupied in the south since 2022: Lobkove, Novodarivka, Malynivka, Novoandriivka, Huliaipole, Novodanilivka, Poltavka, Orikhiv, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, and Preobrazhenka. There were ten reports of destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure.

In the Kharkiv region, bordering Russia in the east of Ukraine, the Russians shelled Nechvolodivka, Novyi Myr, Hlushchenkove, Kozacha Lopan, Kupiansk, and Kurylivka. As a result of the shelling, one person was killed, and two others were wounded. One enterprise, residential and non-residential buildings, outbuildings and cars were damaged.

In the Donetsk region, partially occupied since 2014 and located on the frontline in the east of Ukraine, the Russian army shelled Kostiantynivka, Kurakhove, Myrnohrad, Pokrovske, Toretsk, Ukrainsk, Hrodivka, Lysivka, Novovasylivka, Novoiavlenka, Oleksandropil, Serhiivka and Shakhtarske. The shelling killed one person and wounded four others. Thirty-nine residential buildings, a cafe, a house of culture, a paramedic station, a shop, educational institutions, businesses, administrative buildings, petrol stations, agricultural machinery, cars and communications were damaged.

In the Sumy region, bordering Russia to the north, the Russians fired 125 times at the communities of Sumy, Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Khotin, Nova Sloboda, Putyvl, Velyka Pysarivka, Berezivka, Hlukhiv, Esman, Seredyna-Buda, Svesa, Krolevets, Shalyhyne, Druzhba, and Znob-Novgorod. The shelling killed one person and wounded two others.

In the Chernihiv region, bordering Belarus and Russia to the north, the Russians shelled the community of Semenivka. Border guards recorded ten explosions. There were no casualties.

In the Mykolaiv region in the south of Ukraine, the Russians attacked the Kutsurub community. The shelling damaged a private house. There were no casualties.

In the Kherson region, partially occupied since 2022, the Russian army shelled Kherson, Antonivka, Komyshany, Zymivnyk, Bilozerka, Zelenivka, Nadezhdivka, Poniativka, Fedorivka, Rozlyv, Tomyna Balka, Sofiivka, Sadove, Tokarivka, Beryslav, Mykolaivka, Odradokamianka, Shylova Balka, Zmiivka, Zamozhne, Mykhailivka, Dudchany, Shliakhove, and Vesele. A shopping centre, educational and medical institutions, administrative buildings, cafes, a farm, residential blocks, three multi-storey buildings, 21 private houses, a gas pipeline, a water pipeline, and private cars were damaged. The shelling killed one person and wounded 15 others, including four children.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region in south-central Ukraine, the Russians attacked Nikopol and the communities of Pokrovske, Myrove, and Marhanets. The shelling damaged two private houses, an outbuilding, and a petrol station. There were no casualties.

In the Luhansk region, almost completely occupied by Russia, the Russians attacked Nevske and Makiivka. According to the regional military administration, there were no casualties.
