Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international badminton competitions

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has allowed neutral athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in international competitions.

This was reported by the BWF press service.

The BWF Council voted to approve a regulatory framework that allows Russians and Belarusians to compete as neutrals.

A commission to determine the requirements for athletes will be set up to conduct due diligence and thoroughly examine all the conditions for returning. Subsequently, the BWF will monitor the behaviour of individual neutral athletes and ensure that these conditions are met.

If, at any time, the behaviour of an individual athlete compromises the eligibility criteria, the BWF reserves the right to re-examine his or her playing status.
