Russia replaces the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy. Admiral Aleksandr Moiseyev will be a new acting chief
Moscow, Russia (Svidomi) — Admiral Aleksandr Moiseyv has been appointed as the new acting chief of Russia’s navy, Russian propaganda outlets TASS and RIA Novosti report.
Moiseyev will replace Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov, whose dismissal was reported after the attack on the Sergei Kotov ship.
The announcement was allegedly made at a ceremony in Kronstadt on the occasion of the Submariner's Day in Russia. The website of the Russian Ministry of Defence still lists Nikolay Yevmenov as the commander of the Navy.
According to the Russian publication iStories (Vazhnyye Istorii) Moiseyev was already in command of the Black Sea Fleet in 2018-2019. Back then, Russia detained Ukrainian Navy ships in the Kerch Strait and captured 24 Ukrainian sailors. After that, the Russian admiral headed to command the Northern Fleet.
Nikolai Yevmenov has been in charge of the Russian Navy since 2019. After the full-scale offensive against Ukraine, the admiral was sanctioned by the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom and other countries.
It will be recalled that the Ukrainian military attacked the Russian Black Sea Fleet patrol ship Sergei Kotov with Magura V5 drones. The ship is beyond repair.
In total, the Russians have launched only four ships for the Navy's Project 22160: Vasily Bykov, Dmitry Rogachev, Pavel Derzhavin, and Sergei Kotov. Of these, only Dmitry Rogachev has not been damaged so far.
