In mid-December, Russian troops and mercenaries from the Wagner PMC likely increased the frequency of their assaults on Bakhmut, but many of these operations were poorly supported.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have recently received reinforcements in this area, which may have reduced the frequency of Russian attacks.

The Russians are now conducting offensives near the town, possibly at the platoon or squad level.
