Russia has withdrawn the heavy nuclear submarine missile cruiser 941, "Dmitry Donskoy", from the combat service of its Navy

According to Russian propaganda media, the cruiser must be disposed of at the naval base in Severodvinsk.

The Militarny portal reports that this was the last of six nuclear submarines of the 941 Akula project, the largest submarines in the world.

"The Dmitry Donskoy was the first Project 941 submarine and the longest-serving submarine of its type. The long service life was due to the conversion of the ship into a research facility for testing the Bulava-M ballistic missile system.
