Russia has been draining water from the Kakhovka Reservoir for the third day - the BBC
Against the background of statements about alleged "Ukraine's plans to attack the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station", the so-called "head" of the temporary occupation "administration" of the Novokakhovka district, Vladimir Leontiev, said that this was allegedly "done to reduce the scale of damage in case of destruction of the dam at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant".
Earlier, the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reported that the detonation of the dam had been planned in advance - the main mining work was carried out in April.
If the dam is destroyed, the water from the Kakhovka Reservoir could flood over 80 settlements, including Kherson and neighbouring districts.
