Romania to set up a centre to train F-16 fighter pilots

A regional hub for F-16 fighter pilots will be set up in Romania. Pilots from both NATO and Ukraine will be trained there.

The Supreme Council of National Defence of Romania adopted this decision on July 6.

"This regional training hub will meet the training requirements of allies and regional partners, positioning Romania as a regional leader in F-16 pilot training, thus contributing to increased cohesion, demonstrating unity, and strengthening the Euro-Atlantic deterrence and defence posture," the statement said.

It is planned that Romanian pilots will be the first to take part in the training at the facility, followed by pilots from NATO member states and allied countries, including Ukraine.
