Protests against election results in Belgrade, Serbia
In Serbia, supporters of the opposition coalition Serbia Against Violence (Srbija protiv nasilja) are protesting against the results of early parliamentary elections in Belgrade.
The Serbian state broadcaster RTS reports.
The protesters are demanding that the election results be cancelled due to numerous violations. They blocked the building of the Republican Election Commission in Belgrade and tried to break through. Police reported that the situation was "quite tense".
Representatives of Serbia Against Violence will remain outside the building of the Republican Election Commission until a decision is made to cancel the elections. The leaders of the opposition coalition, Marinika Tepić and Miroslav Aleksić, went on a hunger strike.
According to preliminary estimates, the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (Srpska napredna stranka) wins the elections in Serbia. It gained 46.4% of the vote and received 128 seats in the parliament.
It will be recalled that Svidomi talked about the reasons why Serbia dismissed the government and called early elections.
