Polish farmers block the last open checkpoint for trucks at the Krakovets — Korczowa border with Ukraine

Krakovets, Ukraine (Svidomi) — Polish farmers protesting on the border with Ukraine have blocked the sixth checkpoint, Krakovets — Korczowa, according to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

On the morning of February 16, 1,750 Ukrainian trucks were waiting in the queue at the checkpoint.

"Polish farmers have started blocking traffic for trucks. Due to this, traffic difficulties may occur when leaving and entering Poland," the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reports.

Polish protesters have blocked all checkpoints where large trucks with goods can pass. The protesters are planning to block the Krakovets-Korczowa checkpoint until March 8, the Lviv Border Guard Detachment spokesperson, Oleksandra Kuchkovska, told RFE/RL.

They do not plan to block buses and cars.

Earlier, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine spokesperson, Andrii Demchenko, said more than three thousand trucks were waiting to cross the Ukrainian-Polish border. He also said that the blockade posed a risk of delaying humanitarian aid.

"Given the number of border crossings that we have at the moment in terms of truck traffic, I also have doubts that the participants in this blockade pass the necessary amount or possible amount of humanitarian aid that goes to Ukraine in all directions," the spokesperson said during the TV marathon

Overall, Polish farmers protesting on the border with Ukraine have already blocked six checkpoints: Yagodyn — Dorohusk, Shehyni — Medyka, Rava-Ruska — Hrebenne, Uhryniv — Dołhobyczów, Ustyluh — Zosin and Krakovets — Korczowa.

Polish farmers have resumed their strike because, on January 31, the European Commission officially proposed to extend the duty-free regime for exports from Ukraine for a year until mid-2025.

It will be recalled that on February 11, Polish farmers protesting on the border with Ukraine dumped grain from Ukrainian trucks.
