Poland extradites several Ukrainian citizens who were sending illegal migrants to Europe

Ukrainian citizens have been extradited from Poland. They were engaged in redirecting illegal migrants to Europe.

This was reported by the Rzeczpospolita newspaper with reference to the Polish Border Guard Service.

Poland did this on the basis of an agreement with Ukraine.

At the same time, the Border Guard stated that there are up to 80,000 Ukrainians of military age in Poland. It is not known exactly how many men had grounds for this.

"One person could cross the border up to several hundred times, but if you count the exits and entries, it turns out that approximately 80,000 Ukrainians [in Poland] could potentially be mobilised," said Lieutenant Anna Michalska, a spokeswoman for the Polish Border Guard.

To extradite such citizens, Ukraine would have to issue separate arrest warrants.

"If we detain such a foreigner, for example, for a simple roadside check, our KSIP system will show if the person is being prosecuted by the Ukrainian prosecutor's office. We detain the person and notify the prosecutor's office. It is up to the Polish court to decide whether they will be extradited," explains Inspector Mariusz Ciarka, spokesperson for the Polish Police Headquarters.

It will be recalled, in July 2023, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine served a notice of suspicion to a member of the Verkhovna Rada and her assistant. They promised to assist in illegal border crossing in return for providing an undue benefit.
