Over the past day, Russians fired at Ukrainian regions with drones and other weapons
In addition to 87 cruise missiles, Ukrainian air defence forces shot down 27 Russian Shaheds. In total, Russia launched 158 air targets at Ukraine.
Khmelnytskyi region, located in the west of Ukraine: during a night air raid, Ukrainian air defence defences shot down three Russian Shahed drones. There was no damage to infrastructure or casualties.
Cherkasy region, located in the centre of Ukraine: Russians launched a missile attack on Smila. Liquidation of the aftermath of the attack is ongoing. At least 8 people are known to be wounded, including a child. According to preliminary information, 51 houses were damaged.
Chernihiv region, bordering Russia and Belarus in the north: Russia fired at the border communities of the Semenivka, Novhorod-Siverskyi and Snovsk communities with FPV drones, cannon artillery and mortars. Ukrainian border guards recorded 29 explosions.
Donetsk region, which has been partially occupied since 2014: Russians shelled the Mariinka, Toretsk, Chasiv Yar, Siversk, Zvanivka and Lyman communities. Two people got injured as a result of shelling in Avdiivka and Pereiizne. Residential buildings were damaged.
Luhansk region, partially occupied since 2014: Russian aircraft attacked de-occupied Nevske. Residential buildings were damaged. A 70-year-old man was injured and taken to hospital. Novoliubivka and Serebrianske forestry also came under aerial bombardment.
Kherson region, bordering the temporarily occupied Crimea: Russians made 121 attacks, firing 632 shells from mortars, artillery, Grad, tanks, aircraft and UAVs. Three people were injured. In the afternoon of December 28, the Russian army shelled Kherson. Apartment blocks, a dormitory of an educational institution, and garages were damaged. A 44-year-old and a 72-year-old man got injured and taken to hospital.
Mykolaiv region, south of Ukraine: Russian troops shelled the Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities. There were no casualties. Ukrainian air defence systems shot down three Russian Shahed-131/136.
