Opposition rally of the Civic Platform party takes place in Poland

On October 1, an opposition rally was held in Warsaw, led by the leader of the Civic Platform party, Donald Tusk.

Polish media reported this.

According to unofficial police estimates, 100,000 Poles took part in the opposition march.

During the event, Tusk said that the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party may be planning Poland's withdrawal from the EU and would continue to oppress the rights of minorities and women. Tusk has long criticised the current Polish government for its policy toward the EU

He was joined by the mayor of Warsaw and former presidential candidate Rafał Trzaskowski. He was Andrzej Duda's main rival in the 2020 elections.

At the same time, PiS leaders Mateusz Morawiecki and Jarosław Kaczyński held an election congress in Katowice.

During his speeches, Kaczyński said that when Tusk was heading the Polish government, Poland was subordinated to Russia and Germany. Morawiecki called him “Angela Merkel's man.”
