NATO expresses 'strong solidarity' with Romania

NATO has expressed "strong solidarity" with Romania after the country informed the Alliance of an incident in which debris, possibly from a Russian drone, crashed into Romanian territory.
The Romanian ambassador to the Alliance made the announcement in a statement to NATO's acting spokesperson.
"Romania informed NATO Allies about this incident in today’s meeting of the North Atlantic Council, and Allies expressed strong solidarity with Romania," Dan Neculăescu wrote.
On September 6, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis said he was demanding an "urgent and professional investigation" into the wreckage, the time and circumstances under which it landed on Romanian territory.
"If it is confirmed that these fragments are part of a Russian drone, this situation will be completely unacceptable and will be a serious violation of Romania's sovereignty and territorial integrity, a NATO ally," Johannis commented on the incident.
