Mobilization in Russia may be used to strengthen Rosgvardia units - British intelligence

On September 21, a well-known Russian nationalist, Duma deputy Aleksandr Khinstein called for extending the partial mobilization of the Russian military to Rosgvardia.

This is stated in the report of the British Ministry of Defense with reference to British intelligence.

"Rosgvardia units have played an important role both in combat operations and in ensuring the security of the rear in Ukraine and are currently facilitating referendums on accession in the occupied territories," the report said.

These forces are designed to perform internal security functions and were particularly ill-prepared for intense fighting in Ukraine.

Given the demands of suppressing growing domestic dissent in Russia, as well as carrying out operational tasks in Ukraine, the Rosgvardia is likely to be under particular strain, the intelligence added.
