Missile strike on hotel in Zaporizhzhia kills mother and son and wounds two more civilians

On the night of September 3, Russia attacked Ukraine with three Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, an  Х-59/69 guided missile, and 35 Shahed-131/136 combat drones.

The Air Force Command reported the downing of 27 combat UAVs in the Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Poltava, Chernihiv, and Sumy regions. Six drones lost radar contact, while two more flew in the direction of the Belgorod region (Russia — ed.) and the occupied Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhia region in the south of Ukraine, partially occupied since 2022, the Russians launched 313 attacks on the Zaporizhzhia, Robotyne, Malynivka, Novoandriivka, Prymorske, Huliaipole, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Orikhiv, Preobrazhenka, Novodarivka, and Poltavka. The shelling of the hotel killed two civilians, including an eight-year-old child, and wounded two others. A twelve-year-old girl is currently in intensive care. The regional military administration received 38 reports of the destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region in south-central Ukraine, the Russians attacked Dnipro and the communities of Marhanets, Nikopol, and Pokrovske. The shelling killed one civilian and injured ten others. An enterprise, a kindergarten, an administrative building, private and multi-storey buildings, an outbuilding, power lines, and 12 cars were damaged, and three cars were destroyed.

In the Mykolaiv region in the south of Ukraine, the Russians attacked Solonchaky and the communities of Kutsurub and Ochakiv. The shelling damaged a private house and a car. There were no casualties.

In the Sumy region, bordering Russia to the north, the Russians fired 97 times on the communities of Myropillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Kyrykivka, Bilopillia, Khotin, Krasnopillia, Yunakivka, Esman, Hlukhiv, Shalyhyne, Buryn, Seredyna-Buda, Svesa, Yampil, and Konotop. Three civilians got injured.

In the Kharkiv region, bordering Russia in the east of Ukraine, the Russians shelled Kharkiv, Kozacha Lopan, Ruska Lozova, Bezruky, Kupiansk, Cherkaski Tyshky, Bobrivka, and Cherkaska Lozova. One civilian was killed, and 15 others were injured. The buildings of the Kharkiv Aviation Institute were damaged. Five cars, residential buildings, outbuildings, and 176 garages were partially damaged, and 27 were destroyed. The shelling caused at least five fires in the open area.

In the Donetsk region, partially occupied since 2014 and located on the frontline in the east of Ukraine, the Russian army shelled Bilytske, Kurakhove, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Selydove, Ukrainsk, Tsukuryne, Bahatyr, Halytsynivka, Illinka, and Shakhtarske. Two civilians were killed, and 12 others were injured. A total of 41 residential buildings, administrative buildings, an educational institution, a garden association, granaries, a shop, a cafe, and cars were damaged.

In the Chernihiv region, bordering Belarus and Russia to the north, the Russians attacked the communities of Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, and Snovsk. The shelling caused a fire in 38 households, setting fire to dry grass and plantations. There were no casualties.

In the Luhansk region, almost completely occupied by Russia, the Russians attacked Nevske and Makiivka with 85 combat drones. The regional military administration reported no casualties.

In the Kherson region, partially occupied since 2022, the Russian army shelled Kherson, Tiahynka, Antonivka, Sadove, Shevchenkivka, Stanislav, Novodmitrivka, Prydniprovske, Kozatske, Zelenivka, Komyshany, Kizomys, Beryslav, Havrylivka, and Novoraisk. Two civilians were killed, and five others were injured, including one child. The shelling damaged a critical infrastructure facility, an educational and cultural institution, an administrative building, a church, residential blocks, three high-rise buildings, 28 private houses, a gas pipeline, an outbuilding, a warehouse, and private cars.
