Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine: We have completed the main stage of liquidation of the Kakhovka HPP disaster

Ukraine has passed the main stage of liquidation of the consequences of the Russian explosion of the Kakhovka HPP dam.

This was announced by Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko during a meeting of the Presidium of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine.

The emergency zone includes 180 settlements in the Kherson, Dnipro and Mykolaiv regions. They were home to almost 900,000 people.

Klymenko reported that 148,000 tonnes of drinking and industrial water and almost 119,000 tonnes of food and essentials have been delivered there.

Almost 700,000 Ukrainians were left without access to drinking water.

More than 2,000 employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 300 vehicles and over a hundred boats were involved in the relief efforts every day.

To prevent the deterioration of the sanitary situation, more than 173,000 raids were carried out jointly with the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, local authorities and fisheries protection.

"Ukraine will experience the consequences of this disaster for a very long time, but we will be able to overcome them by joint efforts," the Interior Ministry wrote.

Russian troops blew up the Kakhovka HPP on the night of June 6. After that, the areas below the dam were flooded, while to the north of the HPP, the water level dropped significantly.
