Meeting between Azerbaijan and Nagorno-Karabakh representatives underway in Yevlakh

Azerbaijani authorities met with a group of Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians in Yevlakh.

This was reported by the Azerbaijani State News Agency.

At the meeting, the parties are to discuss the reintegration of the region's residents "on the basis of the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan".

Azerbaijan was represented at the meeting by Ramin Mammadov, responsible for contacts with Armenian residents of the Karabakh region, Bashir Hajiyev, Deputy Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the territories liberated from occupation, and Ilkin Sultanov, an employee of the Special Representative.

The Armenian population of Karabakh was represented by Sergey Martirosyan and Davit Melkumyan. 

The meeting was also attended by a representative of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.

It will be recalled that on September 21, Azerbaijan announced the restoration of sovereignty in Nagorno-Karabakh. 

Units of the Armenian armed forces and armed groups are laying down their arms and leaving their combat positions in the region.
