Main Directorate of Intelligence tried to free the ZNPP three times — all attempts failed
Kyrylo Budanov says that special forces servicemen of the Main Directorate of Intelligence tried to free the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station, which has been occupied since March 2022, three times, but all attempts failed.
New Voice reports this.
The first attempt took place in August 2022. The special forces servicemen crossed the Kakhovka reservoir on high-speed boats in the Enerhodar area, but retreated due to a lack of artillery support. Several hundred people participated in the last attempt, but it failed to succeed due to "management and executive shortcomings."
"The more experience DIU gained from landing to landing, the more prepared Russians were in this area. By the time of the third landing operation, they had brought heavy military equipment, including tanks, to the shore," the DIU chief said.
Budanov also adds that the experience gained in the Enerhodar operation was useful to Ukrainian special forces during the landing in Crimea (Qirim) in August 2023.
