LP's concert in Lithuania is cancelled due to a video posted in which the singer, wearing a sweatshirt with Russian symbols, thanks Russian fans for a gift

Kaunas, Lithuania (Svidomi) — A concert of LP, which was to take place on March 4, has been cancelled in Lithuania, the press office of the Kaunas Žalgirio Arena reports.

The American singer posted a video in which they wear a sweatshirt with images of the Russian flag, a ship and the words "LP Russia official" thanking Russian fans for the gift. Their names were written on the back of the sweatshirt.

"Žalgirio Arena Kaunas has a clear civic and value position — we strongly support Ukraine. After the facts were confirmed, we, together with the event organisers, Medusa Concert, decided to cancel the concert. With this decision, we would like to draw the attention of both LP and other artists planning events in Lithuania to the fact that we will not tolerate messages in support of the aggressor country," said Mantas Vedrikas, Head of Event Department at Žalgirio Arena.

After the "controversial video" of LP appeared on the Internet, the organiser of the Medusa Concert event immediately contacted the singer's management for clarification.

Although the Lithuanian organiser did not initially plan to cancel the concert, he later changed his mind.

"What is the basis for cancelling the concert? Just because they met Russian fans? Clearly, such actions are definitely out of time and out of place. People react strongly here, but you have to understand that Americans are detached, they don’t understand our situation. LP did not express any support for Russia,"

the concert organiser, Remigijus Knabikas, initially said, according to LRT.

LP later removed the video and posted a new one.

"I am so proud of and grateful for my fans everywhere in the world, and I know there are many Ukrainian refugees in the Baltics, and I’d like my Ukrainian friends to know how much I support you. I have always supported you and love you. And I am greatly looking forward to seeing you in the coming weeks. And thank you for all the support over the years, I can't wait to see you," the singer said in the new video.
