Loyalty of security forces is a key factor in how Prigozhin's armed mutiny will develop - UK Ministry of Defence

British military intelligence believes that the outcome of the armed mutiny staged by Yevgeny Prigozhin depends on the loyalty of other Russian units.

This is stated in the report of June 24.

The department called the current situation "the most significant challenge for the Russian state in recent times".

Given the very limited evidence of hostilities between the Wagner PMC and Russian security forces, some of them may have remained passive, which is, in fact, tacit support for the mercenaries' actions.

"Over the coming hours, the loyalty of Russia’s security forces, and especially the Russian National Guard, will be key to how the crisis plays out," the ministry said.
