Lithuanian President says corruption in Ukraine hinders arms supplies

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda has said that corruption scandals in Ukraine affect the decisions of Western countries to supply arms.

He said this on the air of the Lithuanian National Radio and Television.

According to the Lithuanian President, corruption affects public attitudes towards Ukraine. The countries that support Ukraine are democratic, so they must take into account the public's mood.

"Imagine that voters in a particular state see there are very visible corruption scandals in the country where the aid is directed. This is a huge blow to that state's reputation," Nausėda said.

Nausėda made this statement after Zelenskyy announced the resignation of Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov.

The President of Ukraine did not mention corruption in his address, but journalists have repeatedly published investigations into corruption schemes in the ministry.

However, the Lithuanian president does not believe this fact was the reason for the delay in the delivery of US F-16 fighter jets.

"Sometimes it is due to the fact that it is one thing to make a decision and another to implement it," Nausėda said.

It will be recalled that on September 3, Volodymyr Zelenskyy approved the resignation of Oleksii Reznikov as Minister of Defence.
