Lithuanian Foreign Minister: Poland and Baltic states block the ninth package of sanctions due to the threat of easing sanctions against Russia
According to Gabrielius Landsbergis, Lithuania and Poland have stopped the adoption of the ninth package of EU sanctions, as some countries proposed to ease them under the pretext of ensuring food exports. Other Baltic countries support this position.
"Initially, it was a list of 1500 people and companies; now, it has been slightly narrowed. These proposals would have freed up private funds if the states had found a link between these funds and food security. If they made a political hole of this size, which all EU countries would approve, I think it would be used to solve all issues and circumvent sanctions significantly," the minister said.
